Description
While this may look like a lifeless pine tree, it is actually one of Corkscrew's most important wildlife habitats. Standing dead trees, called snags, are killed by lightening, disease or damage. As the pine tree dies and begins to rot, animals like woodpeckers slowly carve out the trunks and branches, creating nesting holes. Termites work from the ground up, chewing and swallowing the wood, and insects dig tiny holes into the bark. These holes are used by bats (as roosts for resting), many mammals (as dens for living) and by groups of birds (for nesting, resting or food).
Please note that the FINE ART AMERICA watermark will not appear on the final print! :)
